Meet our team

Our team of highly qualified and skilled clinicians are all experienced in working across a wide spectrum of psychological difficulties. Each one of us has worked in the NHS as well as privately, with patients of all ages and across a wide spectrum of ethnicities.

However, we know that each person is different, and each patient an individual. Each psychologist in our team has additional skills and areas of expertise that we have studied, or developed over the years. With these, we aim to try and offer you sessions with the psychologist who is best equipped to deal with your particular difficulties.

Together with our policy of flexibility, where we are able to offer appointments during the day, in the evenings, or on weekends, we take pride in offering a personalised and patient-focused service.

Dr Anne Whelan

As a Clinical Psychologist with over ten years experience, Dr Whelan has worked in various NHS and private settings including hospital mental health wards, outpatient clinics and specialist services (e.g. couple/family therapy, forensic). She has provided brief and longer term therapies on an individual, group, couple and family basis. Furthermore, she has experience of consulting to and supervising other mental health professionals to maintain high standards in their practice. Dr Whelan is highly competent in working with clients across the lifespan: with younger people, adults of working age and older adults, with a variety of clinical problems.

With a Doctorate from University College London, a specialist diploma in CBT from the University of Oxford and further training, Dr Whelan works comfortably with different approaches that have been shown to be effective through research trials. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based CBT, Schema Therapy, Systemic or Couple/Family Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. Therefore, she is qualified to draw on a number of techniques and ideas in supporting you to move forward and flourish.

Key to her way of working is a warm, collaborative approach – Dr Whelan aims to put you at ease to allow us to address areas of sensitivity. She will also take account of your unique strengths, goals and concerns in shaping the work together. In the first instance, she will help you get an improved understanding of the nature and origins of your problems before supporting you on your journey to solve the problems that interfere most in your life.
